The arts are critical to the intellectual, academic, emotional and aesthetic development of young people and provide a vehicle for learning across the disciplines as well as providing discipline themselves. Monte del Sol provides a rich selection of arts. We value the creative mind and cultivating the skills of creative problem solving.
Middle School students have a choice of Visual Arts, Photography, Painting or Guitar.
High School students start with an Introduction to the Arts Class that incorporates drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, printmaking and photography. Once they have moved into 10th, 11th and 12th grade they can choose from the following options (some of these options are offered every other year): Ceramics, Drawing and Painting, Blacksmithing, Photography (darkroom) or Guitar.
For the 2024/25 school year two dual credit art classes are being offered at the Monte Del Sol campus. Students in the upper grades also have the option to take dual credit art classes through the Santa Fe Community College and/or the Institute of American Indian Arts online or at the college campuses.
Monte Del Sol Arts Pathway
Monte Del Sol offers an Arts Pathway. Students who participate in the pathway receive an Arts Seal on their diploma. This pathway provides students with a more direct route into the visual arts fields by building their skills and connections within the art world. This pathway will also give students an advantage when applying to arts universities.
