National Honor Society is a national organization which recognizes academic excellence, leadership potential, and service. To be considered for NHS at Monte del Sol, students must earn a cumulative GPA of 3.5 by the end of 10th grade, and their application must be approved by a team of teachers and administrators. As members, they have to maintain that GPA and commit to completing 20 hours of service to the school and the outside community per year. They are also expected to conduct themselves with good character and serve as role models and leaders of the school.

In a typical year, National Honor Society members complete over 400 hours of service in total.

Some of the projects that directly benefit the school include: tutoring, running a holiday food or gift card drive for our CASA program, working in the garden, selling concessions at games, and helping to monitor younger students at the Mentorship Festival. Outside of school, students volunteer to repackage food at the Food Depot, work a day at Habitat for Humanity, and organize and staff two of the most successful high school blood drives in Santa Fe.
