Monte del Sol Dragons Rule!
We have a strong, competitive, and exciting athletics program building on success year-after-year. Currently, we are offering boys and girls soccer, girls volleyball and boys and girls volleyball only at the varsity level.
Athletics Program + Guidelines
Currently, we offer Varsity boys’ and girls’ soccer and Varsity girls’ volleyball in the fall, andVarsity boys’ and girls’ basketball in the winter. Students in grades 8-12 are eligible to try outfor varsity teams. If a student plays a sport not offered by Monte del Sol, they may play for theirzoned high school. Athletes will earn one physical education credit (required for graduation)after completing 3 seasons of a varsity sport. Monte del Sol belongs to the New Mexico Athletic Association (NMAA) and follows theirguidelines for eligibility, which are detailed on page 10 of the Monte del Sol Community Handbook.
We follow their mandate that we “Compete with Class”. This mandate was developed through a collaboration process involving athletic directors, coaches and school administrators as well as input from student and adult communities. Monte del Sol follows the NMAA mandate with the intent to promote and establish a strong culture of sportsmanship based on the core values of respect, integrity, and responsibility among our athletes.
Prerequisites for Participation in Athletics
Before you can participate in athletics at Monte del Sol you will need to have a physical packet completed after April 1st for the following year. You will also need to complete the Concussion for Students packet.
If you are in 8th grade one or both of your parents/guardians will need to sign an electronic form with the Athletic Director. This cannot be done online.
If you have not completed one of these steps you will not be able to play.
